Everyday Heroes highlights CASA Volunteers making a difference in the lives of abused and neglected children. It provides a rare opportunity to hear directly from children about their homes before and after a CASA volunteer came into their lives.
Dear Friends:
I would like to introduce you to an organization that speaks up for children in our community. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) speak up for children who have been abused or neglected and need a voice in the legal/child welfare system. In Cleveland, McClain and Garvin counties alone there more than 200 children a year served by advocates though this program.
CASA is a non-profit organization that operates independently, outside the umbrella of the State Judicial/Child Welfare system. This independence is crucial in achieving an objective, non-biased view of the child's situation. Volunteers from the community are trained to research a case thoroughly by interviewing family members, teachers, counselors, and caregivers. CASA has full access to documents and records so that the child has an advocate who has the opportunity to review every aspect of their situation and make well-informed recommendations directly to the court.
As you review your options for charitable giving this year, please consider joining me in supporting CASA's annual One Heart, One Voice Campaign. Each donation can truly give a voice to a child in need. Your gift is fully tax-deductible and will be used to recruit, train and supervise court advocates for deprived children in Cleveland, McClain and Garvin counties.
Suggested donation levels include:
Program Sponsor gifts of $25-$100
Advocate Sponsor gifts of $100-$500
Child Sponsor gifts of $500 and above
All donors will receive periodic mailings and updates from Cleveland County CASA, along with recognition of their gifts. In addition, if you or someone you know is interested in becoming a CASA volunteer, please visit the Donate page of this site or contact our office. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Patti Truesdell, Board President
Cleveland County CASA, Inc.
