Advocate Resources CASA Volunteer training is 30 hours and covers a wide variety of subjects including: Overview of the Law, Policies and Procedures, Dynamics of Abuse and Neglect, Substance Abuse, Cultural Diversity, Court Report Writing and Interviewing, the Court Process, and the Indian Child Welfare Act. In addition, all volunteers observe court proceedings and participate in a screening interview. Cleveland County CASA conducts volunteer training four times a year. CLEVELAND COUNTY CASA, INC.
Mon., Jan. 23 Orientation: Overview of the Law/Policies 5:30 p.m. Tues., Jan. 24 Dynamics of Abuse and Neglect/Sexual Abuse 5:30 p.m. Thurs., Jan. 26 Domestic Violence/Substance Abuse 5:30 p.m. Mon., Jan. 30 Cultural Diversity/ICWA 5:30 p.m. Tues., Jan. 31 Court Process/Court Report Writing 5:30 p.m. Mon., Feb. 6 Communicating as a CASA 5:30 p.m. Tues., Feb. 7 Permanency for Children 5:30 p.m. Mon., Feb 13 Juvenile Panel – Judge, Asst. DA, DHS 5:30 p.m. Sessions last for two hours, except where noted otherwise. As training is held during the dinner hour, please feel free to bring a brown bag/carry out dinner. Dress is casual.
